Has anyone thought about setting up a site (possibly a group on Flickr) for convention photographs? I’m quite willing to do so but I don’t want to duplicate someone else’s efforts.

jim, i can do that (makes it that little bit more official, i guess – and con sanctioned – not like we’d complain anyway)

Also, if anyone is taking photos and putting them on flickr, perhaps tag them as nullus_anxietas or ausdwcon

You go, Pat.. Official and sanctioned! I guess that means I’ll have to do a separate one anyway. You know, for the photos of drunken committee members in compromising situations!

Thanks mate and well done. This was what I was leading towards in this mornings e-mail. The Crest does offer broadband and wireless in its Business Centre but whether that is just for guests of the hotel or not and whether it is free or not will just have to wait until I check in.

    See you soon.

I’m almost absolutely certain (the ‘almost’ is only there to give me the option of saying I didn’t guarantee it) it won’t be free.

As for those photos… perhaps we will have to restrict cameras to people with press passes (that will be handed out with extreme prejudice) ;)

So can we bring our own personal cameras for photos with people in costumes and with terry?

You can definitely bring your own cameras and take photos – we’d love to have a massive collection of photos from the con – although we’d appreciate it if you didn’t hassle Terry for photos too much.

    JustJim,

If you can get a photo of me drunk and in a compromising position you’re doing very well. No-one’s done it yet and I’m all of 18!!

Here’s a good plae to point out the rules we have in the con book & newsletters on photography (because the rules are too boring to read :-) ):

Filming and photography is permitted, though permission should be given from all individuals involved when doing so. No flash photography is to be used during panels or autographing sessions.

    Also: Beware of Vampires.

If a vampire is dusted will it be the photo takers blood that resurrects them? ;p

Noah’s Ark is a problem. We’ll have to call it early quantum-state phenomenon.

In practice more vampires are de-ashed by judicious addition of ethanol. Most people don’t realise there is a baseline level of ethanol in human blood (even tee-total people have some).

You’d probably find beer is just the right strength for most vampires – the others will probably need a nice wine.

According to the Carlton Crest, Broadband is available in the 4 1/2 star rooms (which is where I’m staying because I was too slow to get a cheaper one!). Cost is $5.50 per hour or part thereof up to a maximum of $27 per day.

I will be bringing my laptop and will gladly upload peoples photos for them for a slight consideration (measured in fluid ounces not dollars).

Pat, would you consider putting the link to the Flickr group on the Links page as well?

Suzie, I accept the challenge. Patrick Swayze and Brad Pitt have been contacted. What’s your soporific of choice?

    Bring it on! Ook!
