I can get a Skybus from Tullamarine to the bus terminal in Spencer Street, but they don’t deliver to Albert Park. Any idea how much a taxi is from the bus depot to the Carlton Crest? Or the number of a tram going that way?

    Cheers,
    Chris

I believe that the hotel has it’s own transport to/from the airport

There’s several trams that will get you to the Crest, that go down St Kilda Road via Swanston Street, which is a short tram ride or train ride from Spencer Street.

Trams number 5, 16, 64 and 67 should do the trick – and you want stop #27, then walk down Lorne St on the right side of St Kilda Road.

That said, i think Sarge is correct (but can’t find details on the Crest’s useless website)

I’m in the same boat, so here’s what I’ve found out.

Yes, the Crest Concierge can book you on a shuttle bus to & from Tullamarine Airport (but not Avalon). Cost is $18 ea way. I’ve just rung the Concierge & booked, and it’s currently 8pm! and they’ve got a toll free number (1800 633 888 in Aust). Otherwise, the Bus company “Frankston & Peninsular Airport Bus” direct number is (03) 97831199.

The Concierge also advised me that a taxi ride between the Crest & Spencer St Bus Station is approximately 5 mins, cost $7 – $10.

if you’re tramming it, here’s the route:
From Southern Cross Bus Terminal: (either train or tram)

go to 5 Flinders St/Spencer St Railway Station
go to Tram Stop 13 Flinders St/Spencer St
    Tram # 3 or 5 or 6 or 16 or 64
Off at Stop 27 High St/St Kilda Rd
Walk 20m to Lorne St (on left)
Walk 210 m to Queens Rd
Turn R and walk 90m to Carlton Crest
    (Thanks to Vic transport’s website).

Looking forward to meeting you all,
    Sorzha

Hmm, I need to go from the Crest to the airport on Monday morning… I guess this bus would be much cheaper than a taxi. I’ll try to remember to ask about it when I check in.

Sorzha – for the deleted text – this is one of the cool things about this forum, there’s special ‘styles’, and deleted text just has a hyphen at either end.

So go and edit your post above, and remove the hyphens on the lines that look deleted, and you’ll be fine.
There’s a style guide under the text entry box :)

And many thanks Sorzha! I hadn’t got around to ringing the Crest yet.

The Skybus to Spencer St. is $24 return, so with taxi on top of that, the Crest bus looks the way to go!

    Cheers,
    Chris

You’re welcome, Chris. When I spoke to the Concierge, I told him I was going to post the info on this forum and that he could probably expect some phone calls, lol.

I booked my ticket with the bus company this morning. It cost me $30 for a return so I’m ahead of the game!

Pickup is apparently close to the International arrivals – look for the white buses with green stripes and big trailers.

I should get into the Crest around 10 am Friday.

    Cheers,
    Chris

hey Chris, sounds like we’ll be on the same bus then, as I too arrive at the Crest about 10ish on Friday, on a green & white striped bus departing from outside the International Arrivals court. Anyone else out there doing the same?

It could be an idea to have a short meeting at the Convention to sort people into groups to go to the airport in taxis. There must be quite a few of us.

Will be arriving at Tullamarine at near 10am on the Friday. Planning to catch the Frankston Airport Shuttle Bus which apparently leaves at 10:30 or 11:30 as the next following scheduled trips.

I called Carlton Crest concierge, who said they couldn’t book me the trip from Airport→Hotel, stating that this was a regular service with various hotel stops. He reconfirmed the price at AUD 18.

You can book the return trip from Hotel→Airport though. So I was wondering which number/website did you go to ibid to book your return trips? Otherwise can wait till the convention itself before booking such things.
