    Hi everyone

We are in the stages of getting ready to be making some more t-shirts for selling, as well as some other merchandise, which we would appreciate your opinions.

So what types of general products would you like to see, or more to the point - what would you be willing to pay for?

For example, t-shirts are definite, but maybe coffee mugs, pens, calico bags / backpacks, gold-encrusted needle-nosed pliers, etc. Not all suggestions would necessarily be produced of course.

    Let the suggesting begin!

Coffee mugs are definitely a good idea. I'd get a few, as well as a t-shirt or several. Pens I think are a little boring, but the bags (either calico or backpacks) might be OK. And the needle-nosed pliers don't have to be gold-encrusted.

For that Aussie feel, how about stubbie holders?

Or maybe even thongs, singlets, or hats-with-corks-(but-no-bottles)? Or is that going a little too far?

    I like shiny things! Ahem.

Calico bags sound like a good idea, I'd probably get one. How about something small and subtle, maybe a bit cryptic? I don't know what they're called, but perhaps the things that started out as goth dog collars bracelet things and then morphed into something non-leather and more mainstream (I'm sure someone will know what I'm talking about). You could have things like "De Chelonian Mobile" or "Millenium, hand and shrimp" or whatever on them.

Actually, I'd probably buy anything. I'm a sucker for quirky merchandise.

Scarves (UU), Beanies, Key Rings, Mouse Pads or even Anoraks with "Kevin" written on them, or perhaps not.

I'm not sure if you'd want to have such an initial outlay, but what about bulk ordering some of the smaller stuff from Paul Kidby's site or the Cunning Artificer? I'd definitely buy a few of the button badges that are on Paul Kidby's site.

Carrie, a good idea, something I would like to see - Discworld merchandise more readily available but...
I may be wrong here, but I think if we were to order some of their products, even in bulk, after postage and handling, exchange rates and putting a bit extra on top to make it worthwhile for us, the prices would be fairly hefty.
Like I said I may be wrong. Please let me know if you think so. I may try to look in to some things in the meantime...

I would definitley buy a stubby holder!! They have to be the stupidest of all merchandise but I'm a sucker and buy a stubby holder nearly every event I go to. I think Daniel Knight would probably buy one as well..I just read a post from him where he said "Beer if my friend" doesn't everyone like to keep their friends in a soft, comfortable place??

I would also buy a stubby holder, I have a collection going and everyone has the few that somehow ended up in your cupboard after a mates BBQ when you just had to leave with a traveller and his/her stubby holder. Actually I am missing a few stubby holders from the same way damn.

You know I wouldn't be suprised if I hadn't ended up with some of yours and vice-versa... Its a small world and SH space (Stubby Holder Space) is large and unexplainable

Grombek, I just had a look at PK's site and the badges are probably the only items small enough to be worthwhile getting in large quantities (anything more expensive and you couldn't be sure they'd sell).
Please excuse my rambliness for this next bit. Anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong...
At the moment, 1 GBP is worth $2.45, call it $2.50, therefore, 1 badge = $2.50 (exc. p&h).
The postage for these varies tremedously based on the quantity, and is not necessarily better value for more purchased. (20=4.50 GBP, whereas 25=8 GBP and 100=35 GBP, 20 seems to be the cheapest per badge).
    Each badge now costs $2.50+ 23c p&h
http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi is a nice and easy currency converter

I've also just been having a look at the Cunning Artificer which has a few more smaller items (and, importantly, lightweight! Like stamps). There the mystic prawn medallions, coasters and the procrastinators, that I can see as being the cheapest. Again you have to play around with the order forms to see how to get the best value p&h. Alternatively, if there's someone who lives in the UK planning to come out to Australia, they might be able to pick up an order for you and cut out p&h completely. They also post free for smaller orders in the UK.

It may not be practical for you in any case, but there's the suggestion.
    Cheers :)

Don't forget CMOT Dibbler's merchandise available at www.cmotdibbler.com (Stephen Briggs in one of his guises). The stuff there is also pricy, but it'd be worth trying to get *some* of it for sale during the Con.

I'm sure if someone talks to Stephen, some sort of deal can be arranged so that remaindered items that don't sell will go back to him, perhaps.
