Finally, the convention is open for registration. As you’ve probably noticed.

    Huzzah!

Questions are definitely welcome, as always.

Change of dates due to venue availability, no doubt?

Looks like there’s no problems for me with the new dates, so far… I’ll sign up :)

Yup, all venues we spoke to were booked for the earlier weekend, hence the change.

    One question.

What are requirements for concession rate?.

A valid government concession of some sort – student, senior, etc.

As a non-Melbourne/Victoria/south of the whole damn country person, will you be advising suitable nearby accommodation?

Why do it tomorrow when it can be put off indenfinetly?

Lilly, I think the Unions are supposed to be like the Guilds at the UK DW Con – i.e. a group you can team up with to go in challenges with against the other Unions. Shouldn’t be an extra charge for it, but I suspect the Union President (whoever it may end up being) might ask members of the union to tailor their costumes/dress/accessories to something union-like when it comes to dressing up. Or there might be a chant/song/dance or whatever to identify the group :)

I looked at the list and chose the Performers union, probably because the Discworld Con will be another brief foray into theatre for me (haven’t actually done any Discworld plays for five years) and I already have a reasonable idea of what I’d like to do for my Gala Dinner costume, which is kinda related to the performing industry :)

Too Little Time, yup, we’re working on an accommodation suggestion or two – there’ll be a post to the list when that’s sorted.

And Lilly, Molokov’s right – Unions don’t have a cost.

    Sarge: promptness is appreciated :)

I couldnt find any details about a possible cancellation or refund.

So here my question: Is the con-membership refundable and if so, until when, considering I might have problems later with booking flights and accomodation.

    Thanks :-)

Lady Lydia, we’re happy to refund all of what you pay minus $25 – a supporting membership, essentially. So the other option is to just buy a supporting membership instead, and you can upgrade at a later point when you’re sure you can make it.

I have just signed up. Yay for me!!!!

I do have a question though, as one of those sad individuals who have food allergies, damn genetics I was wondering if the people who where organising the Gala Dinner where willing to make one of those vegan/gluten/wheat/shellfish/-flavour- free meals, even if it cost extra for us sad buggers who need it?

Have I made any sense at all?

I hope so Deb, and it shouldn’t be that much hassle, considering the six-month advance notice.
