I’m sure many of you are wondering after Nullus Anxietas 3 what is going to happen next?

Nothing is 100% official yet, but keep an eye on the forums here, on the Facebook page, and Twitter for further confirmed details.

However: Nullus Anxietas 4 will be in Melbourne in 2013. Suzie’s pretty certain about that :)

The other thing we discussed on Sunday afternoon (quite a large group!) was a potential mini Discworld Convention sometime next year (2012) in Adelaide or Brisbane/Gold Coast.

I have managed to get roped into throwing ideas around with a few of the other Adelaide people, and we’re going to try and start a bit of a regular social Fan group here, but NOTHING is yet confirmed about a 2012 mini-Con from our end just yet. Give us a few months to think about it a bit more and see if we can get enough people keen to do the organising.

But yeah… there /might/ be an event next year on a smaller scale (we’re thinking maybe 150 people, not 400), with the next big Nullus Anxietas in 2013 – also hopefully with Terry in attendance (but it’s too far away to even hazard a guess on that right now)

You can’t kill me because I’ve got magic aarrghh!

On the NA4 front, we left the con with the plan to have a meeting on the 7th May with anyone interested in being involved welcome to attend so we can start the ball rolling. I was thinking that if we met up somewhere in the city then that would be pretty central. Maybe a bring a plate picnic at the botanical gardens?

Would anyone mind if we change it to the Sunday (the 8th)? I have to escort my parentals to the plane on the 7th.

I almost said that works for me when I realised that may result in all sorts of horrible revenge acts by my Mother for missing mothers day! What about the 1st of May?

I’d love to be involved with NA4, but being in Adelaide is a bit of a drag for weekend meetings! However, I would love to hear of any tasks I could do from here (emailing people, I’d be happy to help organise payments/memberships when it gets to that point) so please let keep me in mind for any jobs that can be done remotely. I’ve spent the last 10 years in hospitality and am currently encouraging teenagers to not fail at thinking, so I’m sure there’s something I can help with. I’m contactable at jocasta.latrell@gmail.com- (it’s my spam email, but I check it for real email too!). I’d also be up for helping out for the 2012 small con if we decide to have it in Radelaide (we call it Radelaide in preparation for the day when it actually IS). So, if there’s something I can do to help make the next Discworld event as memorable and fun as this one, please let me know.

shrynx – I’ve just invited that email to a new google groups mailing list I set up yesterday (but you can sign up with your proper email if you like). First things first for us Adelaideans – let’s get a social group together, and if we can get enough keen and capable people to organise a Discworld-themed event next year, well then it might happen.

And I can pretty much guarantee that the NA4 committee is going to need volunteers for sessions, panels, gophering, The Watch, etc etc so there’s always a role to be played in the next big Convention.

It’s fabulous to see such enthusiasm for both NA4 and some kind of event/social stuff in Adelaide. You do realise you’re all falling for my cunning plan to have Discworld Klatches all over Australia.

I’m planning for the core committee to be from Melbourne. There will be things you can do even if you’re outside Melbourne. I’m putting together Position Statements for Committee members and they will be recruiting people to help out. We will need people to flyer their areas, people to run sessions, people to make things, design things and to create me a new body…if you can make it possible for me to sing I’d be happy.

The date for our first meeting is not set in concrete yet. We did put it in the diary for 7th May but I’m wondering if that’s a little early. I think a week or so later might be even better as I have a lot to do before we get to it.

I have already emailed Lord Vetinari asking him to send out a missive to the email list and given him some suggested wording. I was too tired to do the things I needed to do so I wrote emails yesterday.

I am asking people to email me on ausdwcon@suzs-space.com or ring me on 0407 829 777 to give me their details: name; phone number; shoe size (I might prefer yours to mine and get Igor to work some of his magic); email address; availability.

Sorry Sue, wasn’t aware that the committee had been set up. Thought that was going to happen at the meeting on the 1st?

The only thing sure is that I’m heading the committee. I have lots of ideas in mind and a number of people volunteering. We have a tentative date set for the first meeting but nothing is set in concrete. No apologies needed.

Now that our Sydney Con is over, we can get back to having a bit more fun and a little less work. For those of you who are interested the Sydney branch of Downunder Drummers meets at Maloneys Hotel on the corner of Pitt St and Goulburn on the first Monday of every month from about 6.30pm-ish. An ex member who moved to perth, Daniel hatton of Discworld Broadcasting Company fame, is hoping to kick off the Perth branch of Downunder Drummers.

For anyone who doesn’t know what the Drummers are about, it all started at a pub in London where the Broken drummers were formed….
