I know it's a few weeks early, but I'm starting now as today is a preview of what's to come. I'll translate the temperatures into fahrenheit as best I can, but maths is not my strong point.

Today's forecast was 35 degrees celcius (about 94 fahrenheit)

We left the Aquarium at 2:45pm and it was the predicted 35. After some detours we got home to a slightly cooler 32 (90) just after 5pm. The rain started a couple of minutes later and I just noticed at 6pm that it is now 25C (78F).

More comments to come in future days and weeks. We're expecting 41 (106) on Sunday.

So... I should be pretty safe leaving my jumper at home? :P

Seriously, I was thinking last night about what sort of clothes I should pack - if this sort of behaviour keeps up, I'm gonna have my suitcase all packed and ready by July. Is that sad?

This is Melbourne we are talking about so I will be going prepared for anything between winter and summer

Melbourne weather is so changeable it is best to be prepared for anything. There is a song called "Four Seasons in One Day" which could almost have been written about Melbourne weather.

Yes, pack your jumper, but also pack some light clothes. The secret with Melbourne is to dress in layers and don't forget the sunscreen.

BTW Melbourne water is really good. You can drink direct from the tap (well, putting it in a glass first is good).

    Feeling much better as it's currently 22 C / 72 F.

There must be something wrong with my thermometer. *tap, tap* No, it still says 28 C / 81 F.

My understanding is Crowded House's song "Four Seasons in One Day" *was* written about Melbourne... at least, that's what I've been told.

    Hi Ducky
I think your thermometer *is* wrong, as 28c equates to 82.4f. Celcius to Faranheit is (Cel*9/5) + 32, if my memory of physics lessons back in 1962 is correct. Course, I could be wrong as everything else has changed since then.

    Forgot to do the update.

    Yesterday was about 26 (80)
    Today was only 32 (90)
Tomorrow is meant to 38 (100)

44 to 26? Surely that means rain?

Are all Melburnians like Suzpol, and take the tram into town every morning to check the precipitation in the Town Hall rain gauge?
