Just wondering when there will be some sort of indication regarding the programme- I'm sure way more people would jump on board if they knew what they were getting. I realise that it is early days (have organised a number of large events myself, so not wanting to be pushy), just curious about a time frame for a draft programme.
Cheers,
Gaspode

cut and paste from an email I sent to someone asking the same question:
[blockquote]
We do have a rough idea of what the agenda is - the bigger events are pretty definite, but here's a list off the top of my head, as the programme managers will have more details:
- Gala Dinner
- Maskerade (costume session)
- Thud Tournament
- Cripple Mr Onion Tournament
- At least one talk by Terry (of course)
- Great Debate
- Hopefully a screening of Snowgum Films' Troll Bridge (based on Terry's short story).
- Roleplaying using Discworld MURPS
- Literary discussions about Discworld
Hope this gives you some idea of what's planned. If you've any more questions, feel free to ask.[/blockquote]
And if you think of something that you'd like to happen at the con, post about it - we're always looking for new ideas for events :)

And a charity auction, surely?
In England we had bedtime stories with Terry where he read to a rapt crowd from a work in progress. That would be fun.
We all went in our night clothes with our stuffed toys and candlesticks etc
I love all things Discworld.

Ah, auction was one of things I forgot.
And the bedtime story session would be great, but we've not yet discussed that with Terry.

Suggestion for an activity - presentation on a State by State basis (could be a playlet, a recitation or whatever), with one of the States being the Rest of The World. Well, Mr Tulip thinks it's a -ing great idea.

Another suggestion: Perhaps get some sleek geeks to come and talk science, art and history?
eg. Adam Spencer, Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki, James O'Loghlin (or however it's spelled) or other sleek geeks?

Good idea about scientific stuff - Roundword vs Discworld a la Science of the Discworld. Soemone who could explain the differences (Narrative as a causative effect) and the similarities (It's all to do with quantum, Archchancellor)

How about a swap meet kind of thing where people who have doubles of books can trade with others and flesh out their DW collections?

I assume there will be Clarecraft items for sale? (I actually called in at the factory and got a personal conducted tour a year or so back - then bent the plastic something 'orrible).
I remember years ago buyin bookends from a place in Melbourne, or was it Sydney, who was the local agent.

To my knowledge, Clarecraft's agent is a Sci Fi / Fanatasy Bookshop in Parramatta, Sydney. Howver, this knowledge is 10 years old as I have been in Melbourne that long. Hope this helps . It would be good to have a stand of thiers at the con though

In response to Cixelsyd's suggestion, YES! Possibly we could do some pre-con swapping as well? I have a spare copy of Sourcery, The Night Watch and The Monstrous Regiment, but I've lost quite a few in lending them out.
Anyone have extra copies of Eric, Moving Pictures, Reaper Man, Small Gods, Men At Arms, Interesting Times or Feet of Clay will be my new best friend :)
[On a similar note anyone wanting a copy of "Muddle Earth" by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell in pretty good nick, I have copy surplus to needs. It's comic fantasy so I figure one of you might be interested.]

Whilst I've been enjoying the posts on the general forum threads, I am starting to wonder whether the convention itself is actually taking shape.
Is any progress being made on structure, guests and all the other minutae required?
Are any organisers' meetings being held?
If so, would it be possible to let us know, either as a note on the front page (the current one is now over two months old), as an email to subscribers or as a forum thread?
I've just had a look at the UK 2006 convention page, which has quite a lot of detail, and that one isn't on until 6 months after ours.
If I wasn't 3000k's away I'd be offering to get into town to give hands on help, and in fact before the great website crash of '04 I thought I was on a helper's list, but everything seems to be exceptionally quiet of late.

ponderstibbons - fair point, we have been rather quiet lately.
A lot of this is to do with the Great Webcrash of '04 as you mentioned, since then we have not had access to our mailing lists, which we hope to have back very soon.
The Committee is holding meetings about every three weeks at the moment.
I can resurrect the old thread that we had on The Olde Website for summary and progress reports. - There is a new meeting tomorrow (Sunday 3rd April) where we will hopefully get a few new things to announce.

If I could direct your clicking devices to your right → (not the other right). The Programme page has now begun to grow and is full of wonderfully informative information.
I’ll post alerts of updates here, please remember it is only confirmed items as yet, we are working on many more, always happy for suggestions and volunteers will be greatly welcomed.
