Hello folks, this is the place for general discussions about the Guilds. We will start off 4 topics – one for each Guild.
Lord V says that he expects plenty of activity from the Guilds and will not accept excuses like “we blew our Guild Head”, “Someone stole our Guild Head (without a license)” or “Something ate our Guild Head”!
Finally, please give us your feedback on the proposed rules for the Guild Competition. Click here
Looking forward to hearing from you.

I have a few questions.
1) Assassinations and She’s Gonna Blow – what incentive will there be to hire an Assassin or Alchemist? At the moment it looks like “for the lulz” will be the primary motivation.
2) Will there be anything beyond the honour system to prevent people removing Black Spots themselves before anyone notices? On a related topic, if you get Black Spotted and you’ve bought a Non Assassination Contract (the Assassin hasn’t noticed your sticker) can you simply remove it yourself?
3) How will Those In Charge deal with people who get upset/angry when they want to enter an event but can’t because they have a Beggar they can’t/won’t pay off? What about people who simply tell the Beggar they have no money, true or not?
4) Does the event’s insurance cover injuries acquired by diving beneath a table (She’s Gonna Blow)?
5) Can a Thief use the proceeds of a robbery for their own purposes (Assassination, etc.) or are all proceeds handed over to the Guild? If the latter, how will it be enforced?

I’m not officially involved, but these would be my personal answers:
1) Assassinations and She’s Gonna Blow – what incentive will there be to hire an Assassin or Alchemist? At the moment it looks like “for the lulz” will be the primary motivation.
You can’t score points while black-spotted, so contracting an assassin to inhume someone from a rival guild who is scheduled to volunteer or participate in an event could be a good tactic. They’ll then want an Alchemist to remove it before their item starts. Both guilds could charge extra for inconvenient timing.
And then there’s the revenge assassination for the person who took out the contract on you…2) Will there be anything beyond the honour system to prevent people removing Black Spots themselves before anyone notices? On a related topic, if you get Black Spotted and you’ve bought a Non Assassination Contract (the Assassin hasn’t noticed your sticker) can you simply remove it yourself?
I imagine you could take the spot off if your were inhumed while immune, but maybe you could also demand steep compensation from the Assassins guild (and pass that on to your guild tally). Would encourage the assassins to check first very carefully.
I imagine it will just be the honour system. It is a game, it’s meant to be fun, and as a completist I for one will be aiming for a full set of stickers on my badge ;) It is only a black dot, it’s means nothing unless you’re actively playing the game. and if a few people decide not to cooperate it doesn’t really break the system.
3) How will Those In Charge deal with people who get upset/angry when they want to enter an event but can’t because they have a Beggar they can’t/won’t pay off? What about people who simply tell the Beggar they have no money, true or not?
I’ll add to that question: will the ‘Dollars’ be coded (perhaps by colour), to the guilds – so your guild can only earn points from other guilds money – the money for your own guild is worthless to you so can be given or traded away without cost?
I think the answer to the first problem would be to ask the room if someone from the same guild as the afflicted individual could spare an A-M dollar to get them out of trouble. Part of the point of Guild games is to get people to work together, meet people and make friends.
4) Does the event’s insurance cover injuries acquired by diving beneath a table (She’s Gonna Blow)?
I’ll admit, that one worries me a bit. My plan for events I’m organising is to remind people at the start that it may occur, and point out the safest way to cover. Again, it’s only handing over fake money, hopefully most people have enough sense to realise it’s not worth an injury.
5) Can a Thief use the proceeds of a robbery for their own purposes (Assassination, etc.) or are all proceeds handed over to the Guild? If the latter, how will it be enforced?
That would be up to the guild leader(s). For a team player handing the won dollars over to the Guild would be the thing to do, but it doesn’t really matter if they don’t – just means their Guild is a little less likely to win. I seem to recall at a UK con the guild leaders were taking out contracts on each other, they may or may not have had to dip into guild funds to afford it.

Sorry Jemraine, thought it would have been answered before now. The committee is very busy at the moment working out all the details and timings of the various events. Quite a few of the finer details are yet to be finalised. I think the overall idea, as Rwrylsin was trying to infer, is have fun. If you do not want to enter the spirit of frivolity no one will force you. If you are game and up for anything and want to have fun then you should be catered for as well. As for “in sewer ants” it covers the usual accidental injuries but you do need to take some responsibility for your own actions.

Hi jemraine and rwryslin,
thanks for your input on the whole guilds set up. just to let you know it is up for review and we are looking at making it much less structured and more about guilds having a bit of fun and working out what they would like to do together that could earn them points. there will probably be Monks of Cool or Dark Clerks awarding guild points and being the ultimate adjudicators – but even this is not certain just yet.
The scavenger hunt has kicked off so get to your guild forum and start getting involved.
Anyone in this forum reading this who is not in a Guild yet, just let us know and we’ll get you in one.
Its all meant to be fun, please don’t get too competitive about it. Get creative and impress us with your guild spirit – its the best way to earn guild points.
I can’t be having with foreign parts
