Anyone interested? I’d love to meet people I met/missed at the con (I was the one on Friday and Sunday with the ‘Ask me about stamps’ shirt)

Any suggestions as to where, when, what?

While the weather stays (relatively!) nice we could have a picnic somewhere- nice and cheap for those who overspent at the auction!

The Royal Botanic Gardens if we’re going the picnic option? Otherwise there’s the open air cinema running at the moment at Birrarung Marr [behind Fed Square]. Of course another potentially cheap option would be drinks and a game or two of pool at a pub somewhere. :D

Why don’t you hold it in Perth?

There are some lovely picnic spots in King’s Park – and also lots of park benches to cut down on the accom. costs.

Apart from that, I think there was only Ben and me from WA – and he’s 1500km away in Karratha!

ponder – I spoke with Dean from Perth, who was there with his partner (Katherine, I think her name was). So there’s more than just you and Ben.

I’m not certain there was anyone else from Adelaide there, except me :/ Of course, Javen & The Lady are also SAians, but Mt Gambier is a long way off…

I’ll definatly be there… in spirit.
We could have a Perth one though. All four of us could sit at a table in King’s Park and have lunch. Oh! We could also print off large copies of the photos on Flickr to make cardboard cut-outs of fellow con goers! Or indeed not, as would be the case. And even if you did I wouldn’t be able to make it on account of me working a lot, so print me off aswell.

Just a bit off topic, but if you do find yourself in Perth, Ben, drop me a line (ptony at bigpond dot com) My wife got a couple of good foties of you. (I’m pretty sure it was you – tall, dressed as a Guard, a bit Carrot looking?).

Apologies to Melburnians for invading your thread, but a Perth thread would be hardly worth the effort).

And finally, while I’m here anyway, thanks to all Victorians for making us feel welcome.

After the Con my wife and I spent a day on Puffing Billy, had morning tea at Miss Marples in Sassafrass, wandered round the William Ricketts sanctuary, viewed a lot of Vic. from the top of Mt Dandenong and watched the penguins come in at Phillip Island – in between checking out the Southbank and St Kilda eateries.

All in all a very worthwhile 9 days very well spent.

Thanks again, and take a bow Victoria, and especially those who arranged and attended the goings on at that bit of Albert Park known as the Carlton Crest.

This was the third time we tried – the first time it was packed, and the second time it was closed.

This time we got there just before opening and had the place to ourselves for about ten minutes – then it was packed.

We had to get a second helping of cream and jam to catch up with the scones.

    Beautiful.

    Sounds fun!

Please pick a coolish day though!

I went to see the penguins when I was a tike. Then Dad found out they wanted to charge individually for all us kids so instead we went to sit on some public beach and watched them there.
    Twas great.

ecky: Why Discworld stamps, of course! Far more interesting than the roundworld ones! :P

Rae: The botanic gardens are a great idea. I haven’t been there since I was a kid so I don’t know how much cover they have or BBQs?

    Anyone have a magic 8 ball? :P

Seriously, mid to late March things start getting into Autumn weather, yes?

Sounds Good! probably a pub or Park – dont think the
movie would work as we’d be too busy chattin, and they’d
have to ask us to leave… hehe!
