Figured this thread wasn’t really related to – my favourite book.
and it wouldn’t let me post at that thread either.

Maybe we should talk here about our favourite books? I have a book that is ‘101 Ways To Eat Your Pets!’ or something like that. Its not my favourite book, just wierd food and book related. ish. I think its been mentioned on this site before but I cant remember when, where, who by, or why. It even tells you how to cook your pet rhino.

Well this is a little more akward because now I have to try and remember what other people have said and not repeat it here. =)

Roadkill goanna (never go on one of those survival camps they suck) – tasted rather… crispy. Although that might have something to do with cooking it on sticks over a fire.
    Crow – just like chicken
    Pheasant – bit like duck
    Pigeon – not so good
Peacock – somewhere between a pheasant, a turkey and a goose, not a fan
Freshly killed venison – kind of nice… except for the blood
Lots and lots of goat. Still I think that most people have tried it. I’ve tried some of the other stuff other people mentioned so won’t worry about repeating it.

Would like to try horse meat and guinea pig

They eat guinea pig in Peru, I think – not so much the urban areas, but villages high in the mountains, far from ‘civilisation’

I think it was called black-black gum. A friend brought it back as a pressie for me. Now i have to contend myself with an intalian choccy that has an esspresso’s worth of coffee in it.

Ye gods, they do luxury well over there!

My local asian grocer sells a number of lolly type things so I shall have to check it out. I’m able to get my White Rabbit lollies there so I shall be hopeful. =)

I’ve had honey ants, but you don’t actually eat the ant.

There are some cultures that eat locusts.

Speaking of asian lollies – Pocky are legendary! sweet bread sticks dipped in chocolate, seriously addictive! I personally love the choc almond flavoured ones. Also, Sugus – an indonesian lolly, comes in many fruity and milky flavours and are really tasty and cheap!
Not very weird, i know, but very tasty!

Granny asked the other day – where to get black pudding is Australia. . there is a rather pricey French restaurant in Surry Hills called Tabu. I am told their black pudding is to die for. . . probably doesn’t help much.
