    Hello All.

I have to do a talk on an author’s style and tone and, naturally, have chosen Pterry to do so. We are required to choose a passage and give a 15-20 min presentation on it; I thought to take an extract from ‘Lords and Ladies’ as it seems the most likely to have recognisable references (heavy on the Shakespeare).

Does anyone have any recommendations of a specific passage I should use? Or a different book instead?

I would much appreciate the help.

    Thanks, AB

Going on my memory of the play, I’d go with the scene where the Morris Men are discussing the mummer’s play they’ve been asked to perform. It’s very self referential about Midsummer’s Night Dream’s play-within-a-play, talking about Rude Mechanicals, why’s it got to have a lion in it, men in dresses playing the Queen of the Fairies and ’It’d be daft to have a play with a donkey in it’.

Anyone who’s familiar with Midsummer’s Night Dream would enjoy it – because it’s basically Bottom and his troupe talking about how ridiculous their /own/ story is.

The other major Shakespeare moment that’s easily identifiable is the opening scene from Wyrd Sisters – “When shall we three meet again?”
