We are trying to publicise the next convention via as many media sources as possible in order to attract as many attendees as we can. Do you have any suggestions for us that we might not be covering at this stage. So far we have Twitter, Facebook, we plan to leaflet Sci-fi and other conventions, get an ongoing mention in DWM, and will ask other Discworld websites to include a link to this site. Flyers in bookshops are also being looked at.
Got any more ideas for us?

Thank for the suggestions – got LSpace, LiveJournal and DWM covered, but might need your help in contacting Wossname and alt.fan.pratchett (haven’t used it since late 90’s).

An email to the granny_tude from there should get it published.

‘You call that a knife?’ The giant unsheathed one that’d be called a sword if it had been held in a normal-sized hand. ‘This is what I call a knife!’

Mad looked at it. Then he reached his hand around behind his back, and it came back holding something.

‘Really? No worries. This’, he said, ‘is what I call a crossbow.’

The way i found out about the con last year was at my local book store. So if people can hand out stuff to the book stores i am sure that they would be willing to help and it will get a few more people to find out about the con. If we can get borders on-side that would be amazing.

I found out about the first one from the guy who sells books at a stall at my uni, so stall holders.
Maybe also posters in Train Stations? I see a lot of people on trains reading Pratchett.
Or maybe ask local libraries to set up a display?

Thanks for the ideas. I’m already drafting letters to the national chains of bookstores so that we can hopefully have advertising permission in place ready for when we have a confirmed date, venue etc. Then we will need to turn to you folks to get advertising distributed to all your local bookshops – who is willing to help with that?

Train stations are a good idea too so I’ll see if we can get permission from various transport authorities.

I can probably do the Adelaide CBD bookstores, assuming it’s all OK with their managers.

I don’t know about the second con, but I believe there were only 3 people, including myself, from W.A. at the first one. I heard about the first one via a lucky listening to triple j at 5 in the morning. You might get a few bites if you contact some shops and/or libraries in Perth.

There’s a couple of places in Prahran that I could do easily.
