Well all of you who enjoyed our script reading at the Con (or even if you missed out), here’s some info about an upcoming production of “Pyramids” based on the script I wrote.

    Unseen Theatre Company presents
    The Worlde Premiere of
    Terry Pratchett’s
    Pyramids

WHERE: Bakehouse Theatre, 255 Angas Street, Adelaide
    WHEN: May 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 23, 24, 25, 26

Ok, yes, it’s a long time off, but I figured I’d advertise early so you can all save up for that big road trip across the country to Adelaide :)
I’m not directly involved in the production (apart from giving them the original script, which has been ‘mucked about with’) but I will be happy to meet up with anyone who makes the effort to travel all this way just to see a play :)

More details, including a precis, ticket prices, and the booking number (don’t forget to add an ‘08’ area code) can be found at http://www.unseen.com.au

Having no clue what is going on in the production, it looks like Pamela has taken the ball and rolled with it… Check out the website where they got some of the cast up to Monarto Zoo to ride on camels for a day…

My suspicion is we might see some of this as video footage during the play, something I definitely never planned on happening in the script!

(In fact, in my script there’s no camels onstage at all – they (and You Bastard) are only referred to in dialogue. I did know that there was some rewriting going to happen, but this is certainly a huge effort on Unseen’s part!)

I had fantasies of making it to Adelaide for Pyramids. . . . Looking pretty remote now. And another sneak preview of the diary for May show that it is essentially impossible. . . .

I haven’t yet seen Pyramids yet (tomorrow night!) so I’ve been kind of biting my tongue hoping that something with my name on it is going to be good…

I think I can rest assured… here’s a fabulous review just released, so this gets my hopes up :)

Here’s hoping I enjoy it too (despite knowing all the jokes!)

That is a good review. I wish even more that I could fly down and see it, but my week off doesn’t start until the 30th. I’m sure you’ll be proud to have your name associated with it.

Well, just got home from my first viewing…. and yes, I liked it.

A lot of stuff from my script has had to be cut (as expected) and other bits from the book have been added back in (as expected) and it works quite well! I was a little sad as a lot of my favourite lines and scenes are no longer there (Doppelgangers, Flat IIa, etc) but I can understand why the script was modified… it focuses more on Teppic, Dios and Ptraci now (and their inter-relationship) and less on the sideline characters of Dil, Gern, and the Ptaclusp family.

You’d be happy to know, Ben, that most of the King’s great lines have made the grade, and he looks great as a mummy :)
