I hear that there are movies being made of the Colour of Magic and the Light Fantastic novels by the same crew that made Hogfather… Does anyone have any gossip on this?

From what I’ve read, David Jason (who played Albert in Hogfather) is Rincewind. Which I think is a damn stupid decision, but I think filming has started, so it’s a bit late to change things now (not like I’d be able to anyway).

yeah, I’m not keen on David Jason as Rincewind either (older than Rincewind should be in my mind and also having played Albert in Hogfather it could be a bit weird) but I’m prepared to wait and see.
They also have David Bradley (plays Filch from Harry Potter) to play Cohen.
There are some photos on Paul Kidby’s site from Terry’s tour of the studio where you can see some of the models of Krull and the Potent Voyager. http://www.paulkidby.com/news/jun2007.html
No other casting has been announced just yet, but my hopes are for Masi Oka to play Twoflower (that’s Hiro from Heroes) – yes he’s American but he makes a perfect naive geeky tourist.

that sounds awesome!
Also not keen on the david jason casting.
Cohen sounds cool though.
In discworld monthly they were advertising a competition to be an extra. So wish i could’ve been one, but its a little pricey for a penniless student like me :P.We’re on a mission from Glod.

Christopher Lee (Count Yorga) is in it too.
Im not sure which character he’s playing but Ive always thought he’s much too scary.

Just found out. It’s a 2 part TV movie and Christopher Lee play’s Death.
Wouldn’t surprise me if he comes across as being a whole lot scarier than the Death were familiar with (in the book’s).

I think it will be very nice to see him in a role which doesn’t involve evil wizardry, evil jedi wizardry, evil bond villany, or drinking human blood. Um, and having evil vampiric superpowers.

Come on CL is the classic villain you can’t mess with that sort of history. Still I think he would do a very good job of Death, even though it’s not a villain role.
Hmm… should read his autobiography again.Noah’s Ark is a problem. We’ll have to call it early quantum-state phenomenon.

Christopher Lee did the voice of death in the animation of wyrd sisters and soul music and it sounded awesome. it was exactly the way I imagined it and always will be.

Sorry to disappoint you Ben, but they’ve got Sean Astin playing Twoflower. More info here
Also, further information from Colin Smythe:
Among the other actors: Nigel Planer is the Arch-Astronomer, Marnix again appears as Death, Nicholas Tennant (who played Corporal Nobbs in Hogfather) is the Librarian (prior to transformation), and Terry will again appear in a cameo role.
David Bradley, who plays Argus Filch in the Harry Potter films, will be playing Cohen the Barbarian. Laura Haddock plays Bethan and Herrena (the Henna-Haired Harridan) is played by Liz May Brice.
(And this is post #500! w00t)

Happy 500th Pat!
Also – Sean Astin!!! Totally random! definitely didn’t picture him as Twoflower. Tim Curry as Trymon should be pretty damn cool though ;P.

Hmm, not sure how to feel about Sean Astin, shall wait and see.
Tim Curry – excellent choice! and as for Christopher Lee, I couldn’t believe they didn’t have him for Hogfather – it was inevitable. He was perfect in the cartoons. -

I’ve seen a few new cast names mentioned – you can see the full list on imdb.
But the one that I thought everyone would be interested in is Terry’s cameo – Astrozoologer 2
