Hey guys, I’ve been a fan of the Discworld for quite a while but am only now getting into buying. Any hints as to where I can get good bargains on books, new or pre-loved, and/or related merchandise
I’m looking foremost in Sydney shops, but elsewhere in Australia is okay too so as long as I can use a money order.

So, where does everyone get their fix :)

    Thanks guys. Appreciate the help.

Hi. Target carry Making Money for $24.97 or you could try big W.
The main book shops charge about $40.

Paper backs are too expensive on eBay and their condition may be unreliable so you may need to find your favourite used book shop. Id be cautious though because some of them charge too much. Should be a bit less than half new price.

Libraries are one of the best alternatives. They usually have at least a few and you can ask them to buy books you think they should have.

Majority of major book chains (Dymocks/A&R/Borders etc) have a reasonable back catalogue of Discworld titles, but all at Retail price ($20ish for paperbacks). Cheaper stores like Kmart/Target/Big W may have a limited selection a little cheaper.

As for second hand… well, I don’t know anyone who’d willingly part with their Discworld books, good luck finding stuff!

There’s a second-hand bookshop on George St in the city (south past the cinema, but I’m not a local, so don’t know if I can be much more help than that), that had a decent collection of Pratchett as recent as this week (I was there on Tuesday). They also seem to have hardcovers a bit cheaper than retail price, but not as cheap as Kmart or Target.

No idea what condition the books were in though, or how much they cost – I spent enough money on the CDs they had there.

I live in Melb, but i know of several markets which have bookstalls which generally stock Pratchett. If you are just starting it can be great, but you have to be patient if you want to wait for the last ones you need. Otherwise you can usually ask the seller and they can try to trace it for you.
I know the guy who sells them at my uni sells them from $10 for the Kirby covered ones, and $12 for the Kidby ones.
Most of his are brand new too.

There is a nifty little bookstore in Geelong that has been known to have the latest Discworld book for sale (second hand) the day after it was released.

The site is here: Barwon Booksellers

I don’t know if they bother to put their Pratchett books on the site though because they always sell quickly.

Noah’s Ark is a problem. We’ll have to call it early quantum-state phenomenon.

I think it’s sweet; Geelong having it’s own Sci-Fi Club
