There’s only 10 weeks to go until the Convention, so to warm you up I’m going to post one quiz question per week to get you thinking. The answers will come the following week with the next question.

These questions are from the bonus round ‘Gumbo’ which didn’t quite make the cut into the final set of questions for the UU quiz.

Please DO NOT post answers here, just keep a personal record of your answers and score as we go and congratulate yourself for doing well.

    So here’s the first question!

    1. What other famous book was written by the author of the Necrotelicomnicon?

You can’t kill me because I’ve got magic aarrghh!

Well it’s Friday, so time for the first answer:

    1. What other famous book was written by the author of the Necrotelicomnicon?
Achmed the I Just Get These Headaches’s Book of Humorous Cat Stories

The Necrotelicomnicon was written by Achmed the Mad, who prefered to be called Achmed the I Just Get These Headaches.

    And this week’s question:

    2. Which dwarf has one glass eye?

    Answer next Friday!

You can’t kill me because I’ve got magic aarrghh!

    Time for an update!

    2. Which dwarf has one glass eye?
    Lance-Constable Cuddy

And your question for this week:
    3. What is the full name of the first vampire to join the City Watch? Ok, maybe not full name, but as much as you can remember as quoted in the book.

To answer this one – use your memory! It’s cheating to go look at the t-shirts on the merchandise page. But after you’ve had your guess, feel free to go there and get your favourite ‘Team’ t-shirt :)

You can’t kill me because I’ve got magic aarrghh!

    So last week’s question was:
    3. What is the full name of the first vampire to join the City Watch? Ok, maybe not full name, but as much as you can remember as quoted in the book.

    If you answered:
Sally von Humpeding you get 2 points!

    If you answered:
Salacia Deloresista Amanita Trigestatra Zeldana Malifee … von Humpeding you get 7 points!

There are apparently more pages of names in the middle there, but they are not specified in the book (Thud!).

    This week’s question:

    4. Monolith is a troll folk-hero, who first wrested the secret of rocks from the Gods. What is the secret of rocks?

    Answer next week!

You can’t kill me because I’ve got magic aarrghh!

and the question that follows should be “doesn’t that hurt???”, to which the answer will be “only if you’ve got you’re thumb in the wrong place…”

‘I think, if you want thousands, you’ve got to fight for one.’

    So last week, I asked:
    4. Monolith is a troll folk-hero, who first wrested the secret of rocks from the Gods. What is the secret of rocks?
If you pick one up you can throw it at someone

And for this week, can you answer

    5. Who wrote Interesting Customs among the N’Kouf?

    Five weeks to go!

You can’t kill me because I’ve got magic aarrghh!

So Granny would you like to be a judge instead? Then you can decide who gets points for being right, and who doesn’t :)

    Last week:
    5. Who wrote Interesting Customs among the N’Kouf?
    Lady Alice Venturi

This is from the Discworld Mapp, in case you’ve never heard of her.

    This week’s question:
    6. What does the vampire Maladora Krvoijac, also known as Freda, wear on a chain around her neck?

If you paid attention to Sarah Kinder’s costume last convention, you should know this :)

You can’t kill me because I’ve got magic aarrghh!

Well Sarah definitely was, and I think the character of Freda does too. At least, I don’t think the character is ever mentioned to be naked (unlike Sally & Angua in “Thud!”)
