Does anyone know where to find the Australian release dates for Discworld books? I keep getting these email newletters, and they only ever relate to American dates.
What I really want to know is, on what day should I be standing outside the bookshop waiting for it to open?

I have been having that argument with my local A&R for the last couple of years.
When Hat Full Of Sky was coming out I was told three different dates by three different people, I ended up spotting it halfway between the first and second dates. Since then I was given two different dates for Monstrous Regiment and was told there was no such book as Science Of Discworld 3 so have decided to stop asking.
I have heard Thud! (and Where's My Cow?) are being released in early October, so I will be looking around then.
Let's just say whoever spots it in a shop in Australia first post it here.

Cheers! Glad to know I'm not the only one bugging my local bookshop. Meaning annoying. Not in anyway relating to the planting of electronic monitoring equipment. <shifty glance>

For Going Postal I spent much time haunting the local branches of A & R and Dymocks, where I was told the release date was such and such. Then, quite by chance I went into the local K-Mart where thay had it on display about two weeks before the local A & R!! And much cheaper too.
But now that I've got it inscribed by TP it's worth a fortune anyway.
But the point is, look outside the square for new issues.
And for followers of the game they play in heaven (That's AFL of course) what a fantastic Grand Final. (And that's coming from someone who wanted the Eagles to win).

Hello,
I just had a look at the Random House publishers web site, it has the publication date of Thud as "03/10/2005", being Monday.
If you wish to check for your self go to:

I bought _Thud!_ last night (Sept 30) in Dymocks Rundle Mall (Adelaide) for ~$35. They also had _Where's my cow_ for $32 but that'll have to wait. Last week Dymocks said the release date was Oct. 1, so I just dropped in last night on the off-chance. :)

Got both of 'em on Friday - At A & R!! for the same price quoted by ibid.
$32 for "Where's My Cow" - still can't believe it----however, it's now in my collection, ready for a certain signature next time he's in Perth.

Yes well as I always wait for the paper back won't be buying 'Thud' just yet. Pick up 'Going Postal' at K-Mart where they also had 'Thud' in hardcover avail. Only paid about 65% of RRP for GP.

I wasn't paying attention and suddenly it was October. Now I have to wait a whole week if I want to get a staff discount from my friend.

I'm gonna have to rely on the local library - they did say Pterry was on the 'automatically get their new stuff' list though. I've got two assignments to do this week though, and no spare time to read - its not fair!

Hehe... I've only got one, but so far I've managed to drag out 2000 words to four days. I've checked my email upwards of 150 times. At least Thud! would have been a slightly contructive use of my time.

I am curious. Does anyone else find the illustrations in "Where's My Cow?" really disturbing or is it just me?

I've stop writing my assignments and started on my novel... whoops, there goes my credit rating.
If i had thud to read, however I would probably be doing nothing at all... last time I had a new Pratchett I speant two days just staring at the cover and hugging it: I had to do everything with one hand. :)

I've reserved it at my local library. I'm 2nd on the list. Huzzah! AND they get in 9 copies too. I can spread the word (which is"You must read this before you die!" But must remember to stop waving sharp implements when saying this)! Huzzah again!

I went to A&R a couple of days ago to stare at Thud! for a while.
While I was there I also read Where's My Cow? It took 5 minutes, and that included the time it took to look at the pictures.
I thought the pics were very pretty. Despite being non-Kidby the characters still met my expectations. I particularly likes seeing Vetinari with long hair.
I think it's worth the $32, but Thud! comes first in my budget.
