I’m in my last week at a boring job. I refresh this forum page far too often.
And yeah, I was tempted to edit my previous post to celebrate it being number #300 – but it felt it was a bit recursive, editing a post about editing. ;)

What a surprise, I just received an email from the guy that designed the cover for version 1 of the Thud game.
He was remarkably informative and told me that version 1 and 2 are made in the same place in the same moulds using the same materials (in China). The only difference is some colour variations and the newer rules.

I just received another email from John at Bonsai Trading in the UK (designer of Thud game cover) who told me he also set up the first Thud website.
It was great to have some questions Ive wondered about answered so conclusively. He said he has been involved with Discworld for quite a long time and is happy to answer any more questions. Interestingly, he also knows Trevor Truran.

I know this is a very delayed response to a post looking for someone in Canberra interested in playing Thud. As an excuse I will just say first time reader. I got a set 3 or 4 christmas’s ago and have only played half a dozen times. Found it to be a good game but time was harder to come by. I am interested in setting up time for a game. If you are still keen you can email me.
Wow, gee it’s really something to see Post Number 1.
Welcome to the page Duane.
Im also interested in contacts from anyone around Sydney who would like to play. Im so new at this that I still need to study the game a bit more first.

And I once again offer to have a long-distance game with anyone who wants to play that way.

Would that be by e-mail? Cos I’m game.

MSN is great. It would be really easy to play that way and just move the pieces around the board for both sides.
What date and time for the big game ? We’ll have to work it out. I havent ever played anyone so I definitely need the practice.
To reach me on MSN you just use my email address

The only board game Ive played in ages is Chess with my computer. It always wins. Im quite sure the Chess program would have to be rigged if the computer was to lose a game.

Is there anyone in Mackay who’d like to play? I’ve noticed someone’s put up flyers, so someone up here knows about it apart from me. E-mail play is out for me because as per my sig, I don’t have much time (fulltime day and part-time night job – lotsa bills to pay as hardcover books are getting really expensive). This means I get around to e-mails about once a week – would make REALLY slow game.
Why do it tomorrow when it can be put off indenfinetly?
Heh, my last ‘slowfire’ game lasted several months, so don’t worry about that aspect. Email would be good, msn could be do-able but would need to be at a pre-set time when both players were sure of being online with no disruptions. Either way I can’t start a game with anyone ‘til I get home, so probably not ’til after the 8th. But after that no worries (or should I say ’nullus anxietas’?) :P

If you put the email addresses into MSN it will let you know when theyre online each time your on the net. Id still like to study the game a bit more.

I hadn’t realised how hard importing to Australia is
FYI I make hand made Thud boards, I am attending in Feb and can bring some along.
These are small, unique and portable, contact me on Sandra.battye@btinternet.com to discuss your interest
(NB Terry, Trev, Bernard and all other interested parties are aware of this)
Hey now that sounds good.
I’m on msn now, well not right now, on account of being on my lunch break, but i am able to be on.
I’m busy today but pretty much any time tomorrow should be fine. the only hassle might be the time difference. you guys are 2 hours ahead right? that should be ok.

Although I still havent played anyone yet, I really like the artistic aspect of the pieces and the board, very nice.
Im not sure what my budgets going to say in Feb but Id really like to see anything handmade as a matter of interest.
Im online quite often (all sorts of hours) and am not sure when I’ll be busy or not. So, the best thing is, just knock on the door and we’ll go from there.

Mmm… I need to get people down this way playing. I have had a set for ages and it’s only been used twice. (Yes Grombek that is a hint) =)
