All The Discworld's a Stage... |
"It's been a long time since I heard a theatre played properly" - Granny Weatherwax.
Well... wait no longer! There are three - yes, that's right, THREE - upcoming Discworld plays happening in October and November around Australia. This is in addition to the performances of Night Watch (Emerald, Vic) and The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents (Huonville, Tas) that took place in July and August. What a year for Discworld theatre in Australia!
Brisbane Arts Theatre invites you to join Commander Vimes as he journeys to the icy realm of Uberwald on a mission to establish trade with the Dwarf King. What begins as a diplomatic effort soon turns into a race against time to prevent an inter-species war. Alongside a talking dog, a reformed vampire, and a "self-made" man, Vimes becomes a fugitive, pursued by fascist werewolves through the treacherous woods.
Performances run from October 19 to November 2 at various days and times. Find out more and book tickets here.
Sporadic Productions1 is proud to present a stage adaptation of Sir Terry Pratchett's bestselling Discworld novel "Maskerade". This comedic murder mystery parodies The Phantom of the Opera while weaving a fantastical tale about the masks - figurative and literal - that we all wear. Welcome to the Ankh-Morpork Opera House, home to music, theatrics, and a masked ghost... where dying on stage is a bit more than just a metaphor.
Performances are one week only from October 30 to November 2. Find out more and book tickets here.
Roleystone Theatre takes you to the city of Ankh-Morpork, which is under threat from a 60 foot fire-breathing dragon, summoned by a secret society of malcontented tradesmen. Defending the city is the underpaid and undervalued City Night Watch - including a drunken and world-weary Captain, a cowardly Sergeant, a small opportunistic Corporal of dubious parentage...and their newest recruit, Lance Constable Carrot, who is upright, literal, law-abiding and keen.
Performances run from November 22 to 30 November. Find out more and book tickets here.
