Greetings from the desk of Miss Perspicacia Tick.
Whether you're steeping herbs in the Ramtops, sidestepping curses in Ankh-Morpork, or simply trying not to wake the household spirits - welcome to another issue of Broomsticks and Cauldrons.
This compact conjuring of news and nonsense is for witches, wizards, and the less magically minded. Expect curious updates, a sprinkle of wisdom, and the occasional spell you didn't ask for but probably need.
So, grab your pointy hat, polish your boots, and try not to anger any eldritch entities - it's time to dive into the news that joins the realms!
In this issue:

What a fantastical night!
Hogswatch hilarity happened; Hogswatch songs were sung.
Presents were wrapped; much eating and quaffing done.
The Hogfather and his hogs were a welcoming sight.
Thank you to all who attended and made it a merry, merry night.
More Hogswatch iconographs can be found here.
Here are some more awesome workshops and events. They are free except for the Gala Dinner4.
Sign up for one, or as many as you like, while at the convention. Some events have limited places - to be advised.
There are too many activities to list in the here and now. Plenty more to come next time and the time after that.
Several events are happening across the nation, and the chilly weather brings thoughts of Hogswatch. As mentioned earlier, Sydney hosted a Hogswatch in July dinner, which was a load of fun. By the time you receive this newsletter, the South Australian fan club City of Small Gods will have also held a special Hogswatch in Grune dinner. And a little birdy5 whispered in my ear that the famous Quiz Long and Prosper Science Fiction and Fantasy quiz night will return in October 2025.
Details about other Discworld fan groups can be found here.
Earlier this year, Night Watch was re-released as a Penguin Modern Classics, complete with annotations. One of the annotators - Professor David Lloyd, Vice-Chancellor of UniSA - will be talking about the book with science communicator Robyn Williams, at UniSA on Wednesday 3rd September. The event is free - and also available as a live stream - but you will need to register in advance. Find out more and register here.
Memberships for Nullus Anxietas X - Australian Discworld Convention - 10-12 April 2026 in Sydney NSW, can be purchased here.
More news will be shared with you over the coming months when we reveal events and guests.
Do you have any news in the world of the Discworld? Know of an upcoming Discworld play, or a gathering of fans in your local area? If so, please share with us, and we will share it with everybody.
As always, if you'd like to volunteer at the convention, we'll need your help, no expertise required... Please, fill out the volunteer form.
